Wyoming Home Performance provides training and certification to residential contractors and energy consultants in Wyoming with energy efficiency and building science training, mentoring, and proctoring certification tests as well as other technical assistance and field support. Certification will position you to take advantage of the new economic opportunities.

Contractor training and certification programs are designed to strike the right balance between realizing energy savings and maintaining the health and safety of Wyoming residents. Contractors completing Wyoming Home Performance Contractor Training are prepared to complete the written and field exams necessary for certification.

Building Performance Institute sets the standard for certification and on-going quality assurance. Building Performance Institute certification allows contractors who care about quality to take the next step in distinguishing themselves from the competition.

To be successful, a participating contractor must be committed to incorporating whole-house practices into the existing business model, and have the business experience and skills necessary to make that happen. This application will help WEC and the Wyoming Home Performance Alliance Advisory Group select contractors who can successfully participate in the Wyoming Home Performance Program. Anyone is welcome to participate in training to improve their services, if space allows. However, contractors who are interested in obtaining all the benefits of participating in Wyoming Home Performance by becoming fully qualified and certified must meet the basic requirements and provide the necessary information to evaluate your organization.

1. One-stop Solutions Model: Provide the customer with all the home improvement services they want, by performing the energy audit, making recommendations and writing the work order, performing the work selected by the homeowner, and testing out. This model requires an established organization with a minimum of four employees.

2. Consultant Model: Perform the audit and make recommendations. The customer uses your recommendations to seek competitive bids and the work is performed by other home improvement professionals. When work is complete, you return to test out and verify the work was performed to your specifications and meets the appropriate standards. This model can be adopted by smaller organizations with fewer employees.

Training consists of a six-day classroom and field training course that covers technical and business elements of the program. An on-line training curriculum is provided for introductory study before training, and on-going reference is provided after training to help you succeed. Wyoming Home Performance recommends each participant have a laptop computer available for their sole use during training to take full advantage of the on‑line component. A copy of the syllabus will be provided to applicants accepted for training.
