Home Energy Makeover Contest and Energy Efficiency Ramp-up - Wyoming
Program Offering. Wyoming Energy Council (WEC), in partnership with a consortium of towns and counties across Wyoming, proposes to “ramp up” the expansion of the existing Wyoming Home Performance program to increase homeowner awareness, leverage workforce development alliances, and further motivate consumers and contractors to pursue “whole house” solutions by offering a statewide, comprehensive “Wyoming Home Energy Makeover Program” over a 2010 to 2013 time period. The competitive Energy Efficiency Block Grant utilizes U.S. Department of Energy American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding. The grant also seeks funding to complete energy efficiency and renewable energy system installations in local government buildings as recommended by energy audits performed under the WYECIP program. WEC partnered with Wyoming towns and counties that were not eligible for formula funding under the first round of Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants. Under this grant proposal, consortium members will help develop strategic direction and provide consultation and guidance. WEC submitted the grant application on behalf of participating local government entities, and will be responsible for administration and reporting. Consortium members will be subgrantees under the main grant for energy efficiency retrofits on local government buildings. To
build project momentum, the Wyoming Home Performance Alliance will present the
3rd Wyoming Utility Efficiency Exchange on March 9-10, 2010 in Cheyenne,
Wyoming. The event goal is to facilitate a networking and professional
development conference for energy utilities serving Wyoming who are responsible
for developing and implementing customer programs related to energy/water
efficiency, smart grid, and renewable energy.
